ABOUT ME

BEHIND THE ARTIST

I created my first magazine mosaic in 2002 of an Irish Flower.  That sparked in me a new passion and I spent many years creating flowers for friends and family.  From there, I experienmented with birds and other natural objects.  It wasn't until 2012 that I began experimenting with new subject matters such as portraits and landscapes.

To create a magazine mosaic, I must first riffle through hundreds of magazine pages to find the perfect colors.  Once I have, I sketch my scene on canvas and cut up the magazine pages into smaller shapes.  Using a paint brush and Mod Podge, I glue the magazine clippings into the desired location.  With the exception of a few pieces where I use old photographs, everything on the canvas is created with a magazine page, even my signature.

The completed pieces are best appreciated in person, so come check out where I am displaying at thedowhaus.com.
